Job Title: Machinist II
Location: New Holland, Pennsylvania

Type: Contract
Contractor Work Model: Onsite
Hours:
  • 1st Shift, M-F 6:30am - 3pm (if overtime is required it is worked after regular shift ends).
  • 3rd shift, M-F 10pm to 6:30am (if overtime is required it is worked before regular shift starts).
Overview
Operates the furnace machines using chemicals and fire. Has and understanding of metallurgy. Responsible for the sequence scheduling, operation and normal maintenance of heat treating, finishing and related equipment, such as furnaces used to harden tool steel, all induction units, as well as other types of equipment.

Responsibilities
1) Inspect all production and experimental heat-treated parts for working hardness.
2) Perform minor repairs on all heat-treating equipment.
3) Determine methods and procedures for heat treating experimental parts and tooling for which there are no prints or specifications, as necessary.
4) Ensure the machine operates in accordance with the guidelines of the company.
5) Check machinery daily to guarantee functionality.
6) Record all machine actions by completing production and quality logs.
7) Communicate logistics issues that arise in the process of creating a part.
8) Ensure that results of machining process align with expectations.
9) Responsible for inspection of parts, teamwork, accuracy, inventory control as required, total quality, employee involvement, cost reductions, and training new operators.
10) Maintain necessary records.
11) Move materials as necessary in the performance of duties.
12) Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to proper supervision.
13) Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
14) Follow all standard operating procedures and established practices and processes.
15) Perform other duties as required or directed.

Work is primarily achieved by following clearly defined processes or procedures. Progression within classification is reflected by exhibiting greater knowledge, increasing productivity and taking the initiative to streamline processes.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possesses the knowledge and skill to deliver business objectives. Demonstrates competency in various areas and expresses a desire to learn and develop. Actively involved in and expresses enthusiasm for objectives set by the workplace.
